Some of our 8th grade students participated in a STEAM Project to build cardboard boats with other 5th and 6th graders from Bloomfield Schools.  Read below a quote and view attached images.

Way to go, we are proud of you!

"I am so proud of our 5th, 6th, and 8th grade students. They worked hard together! There was never a down time, or a time to wonder what to do next. They had a goal, they had a plan, and they designed their plan and met their GOAL!! The students continued to be engaged, collaborate, and have deeper level discussions on how to improve their designs. Walking around the room, listening to their conversations and thought process, put a smile in our (teachers) hearts.  What I really loved was when our students were encouraging each other at the pool. They had to decide who was going in the boats and who was going to be the timer. I realized that our students are very competitive and they pushed each other to succeed.  Our students are our future, they will become our educators, researchers, innovators, and leaders. This project definitely impacted our students by connecting our curriculum to the real world and experiencing real life skills."  Mesa Alta Teacher, Dannette Lopez
